In February I wrote about doge coin and how Bryna and I made our first purchase at around $0.008, and how it went up to $.08 and fell back to $.04. That seems like a long time ago since out favorite doge coin is around $.33 as of 26 May 2021. We have learned a lot since we initially purchased. There are several factors pushing the price up, including being added on Coinbase in the next two months, Space X accepting doge for a satellite launch early next year named Doge-1, and Elon Musk (founder of Space X, Tesla, and others) tweeting about doge, and Doge will be the future currency of Earth and Mars. This is just a few of the upcoming catalyst for doge.
One questions we keep getting is should we buy doge, and where to buy. First, we are not financial advisors so we cannot say to buy, sell or hold. I can say that we have continued to buy and hold.
The second question we keep getting is where to buy, that is harder to answer, to start with it depends on where you live. First you have understood about wallets. Some of the places to buy, you can’t use or move your dogecoin only hold, buy or sell, but not make any purchases with them. Other exchanges allow you to use and move your coins.
Robinhood – In the USA the one easy way to purchase dogecoin without having a wallet, Robinhood is easy to use and available in every state, but you cannot move or use the cryptos, only buy and sell.
Gemini – New to dogecoin, can buy sell, and trade dogecoin in every state. They also offer interest rate of 2.25% APR on dogecoin. Gemini is available in New York but may not be available in every state.
Binance-US – Binance is the biggest exchange in the world. The downside is seven states cannot purchase any crypto on Binance-US. When signing up they will ask for a picture of your driver’s license to verify who you are and where you live, so it may be possible to signup living on one of the states listed below, it would be hard.
Webull – Webull is similar to Robinhood, you do not have a wallet, but unlike Robinhood you can’t buy crypto in New York. Webull does not offer instant buying power like Robinhood.
Coinbase – They do not offer doge today, but they did announce that in 6–8 weeks doge would be available. So if you have a Coinbase account you will have to wait for a month or so.
I know there are other places to purchase like Kraken, and AnchorUS in the US, but they are not available in New York, so I don’t have information on them.
Your county regulations may vary, but overall, there is one place
Binance – Binance unlike Binance-US offer crypto purchased including Doge in most countries except China.
There are other places to purchase doge, but I have not looked into them, just make sure they are a reliable company. If they have a wallet, take your coins out and put them in your wallet.
